Citron and Gray

Citron and gray is one of those color combinations I really love:

And of course, citron and gray with turquoise is even better:

Blouse: Old Navy (similar, plus available)  Skirt: Gap  Sandals: Ella Moss (similar)  Belt: Old Navy (similar)

In other news, I continue to be thrilled by the presence of pockets in my clothes:

Thrilled, y'all.

Happy Wednesday, Reader Friends!

EBEW: Color Blocking

Today is the Everybody, Everywear Color Blocking challenge.  So I wore blocks of color:

Because I think you haveto for it to be “color” blocking.  I mean, can you even color block with neutrals?  I don’t know, but I think probably not.  So, blocks of color it is.

My blocks are a cobalt maxi skirt (Target) and a citron tank (Old Navy).  I added black sandals (White Mountain via Macys), a silver fringe necklace (Jessica Simpson via Macys) and a few bracelets (handmade, handmade, Macys).

To see how other bloggers blocked their colors, make sure you visit Everybody,Everywear.

And have a Happy Tuesday, All!

EBEW: Neon

Today is the Everybody, Everywear Neon Challenge.  I paired my neon with black and tan:

I would have liked to have gone for a more summery combination, but after a lovely, hot weekend and a gorgeous Monday, it’s raining again here in Oregon.  So, I wore my neon tank (Old Navy) layered over a white tank (Target) and under a tan cardigan (Gap).  I also wore black skinnies (Gap), gray and silver flats (Target) and a stack of gold, black and turquoise bracelets.

Actually, I'm not even sure this counts as neon.  If so, it's the most wearable neon ever.  Well, excepting neon pink, of course; I do love me some neon pink.  In fact, the only reason I didn't wear neon pink is because I'm trying to work my way through my closet so I can shop again and haven't worn any of these pieces yet.  BTW, they're all keepers, just in case you were curious.

For more, or actual, neon looks, make sure you visit Everybody, Everywear.

And have a Happy Tuesday, All!

Lavender, Lemon and a Bee Attack

Y’all, I was totally attacked by a bee today.  Okay, he was probably just flying by, but I reacted like it was an attack by ducking and squealing and then laughing.  You know; as one does:

Not to worry though, I got it together enough to take pictures.  Sort of:

Like yesterday’s color combination of tomato and violet, today’s combination is one I’ve wanted to try for sometime.  Specifically, since the EBEW Pastels Challenge in which my lovely friend, Ana of She’s Addicted to Clothes, paired lavender and yellow.

My lavender and lemon pairing involves a thrifted lavender eyelet dress and a lemon-yellow cardigan (Target).  I added a multi-colored belt (thrifted) which allowed me to sneak in navy platform sandals (MRKT via DSW) and rust red earrings because I like to ground my pastels with non-pastels.

Is there a word for non-pastels?  I'm sure there is.  Does anyone know what it is?

Happy Wednesday, All!  Watch out for bees!

Citron and Gray

I should have called this post “Citron and Wrinkles” because, holy smokes, does this blouse get wrinkly.  And this is after I ironed it this morning:

I still love it though, wrinkles and all; I just think citron is such a sunny, pretty color.  Because it’s still not quite warm yet here, although I do believe this weekend will be gorgeous, I paired the blouse (Old Navy) with gray jeans (Gap).  Because it’s not exactly cold today either, I risked an open toe and wore studded wedges (Vince Camuto).  I added a silver fringe necklace (Jessica Simpson Collection via Macys) and my vintage turquoise-bracelet (Ray’s Ragtime).

Most importantly, however, is that today is Friday!  About which I am even more excited than usual.  I have random, tentative plans for this weekend that may or may not involve music (listening, not playing; don’t be silly), sewing (undoubtedly poorly), a dance workout (Club Dance?  I don’t even know, but I’m excited) and/or hiking.  Realistically though, I’ll probably do nothing but sit in the sun reading a book.  Because I’m lazy like that.

What about you, Reader Friends?  Any exciting plans?  Or will you be joining me on the HMS Lazy?

Whatever your plans (or lack thereof), have a wonderful weekend, Everyone!

The Kindness of Strangers

It’s raining today in Oregon.  Because that’s what it does here.  And I support Oregon rain, but it can make it a little hard to take pictures.  Especially because I try to protect my photographer and camera as much as I can, while still taking outdoor pictures.  Today those efforts resulted in these pictures:

And then, an older gentleman coming into the building stopped to watch the proceedings and decided that my hair was being lost in my black umbrella and lent me his umbrella.  And thenhe helped position the umbrella so that the white was behind my head.  This picture is the result of the kindness of that stranger:

I personally found the whole thing hilarious, but a little surreal.  Which is not to say he’s wrong; you really can’t see me under my umbrella.  I guess maybe I should invest in a white polka dot umbrella for these gloomy days.

At this point I’m looking for anything to help cut through the gloom, like bright-ass shirts.  Which is why, on my last trip to Old Navy, I invested in more than one piece in this color.  Today I layered a citron tank (Old Navy) over a white tank (Target) and under a charcoal-striped cardigan (Old Navy).  In spite of my bright tank, it does still feel like winter here in Oregon, so I added black skinnies (Gap), black boots (Vince Camuto “Fantastic” via Nordstrom) and an infinity scarf (Steven Madden via Macys).

And with that, I want to wish you all a Happy Friday!  And have a wonderful weekend!
